Bolonius was an agent of the Snake Crest, a scientist with a long and twisted history that led him to his current position. Originally a ranger, he was made headmaster of the secret Ranger Academy in the town of Osric in Hamlet. There, he oversaw an abusive and often lethal training regimine for young rangers for several years before the school was shut down. From there, he reimagined himself as a toxicologist, and found employment in the hospital-town of Horatio, where he became widely respected for his work on poisons and antidotes. Bolonius' life took another turn when his daughter, Ophelia, contracted genfluenza. Unable to cure the disease and desperate, Bolonius infected her with the zombie virus instead, knowing it would preserve her body until he had found a cure for death itself. To this end, he aligned himself with the Snake Crest, who had him refine their formula for Adan's Blood, which might be able to revive his daughter. Unfortunately for Bolonius, Ophelia had become a zombie seed, and was causing other zombies to spring into being. This attracted the attention of Aster and his family, including Bolonius' former protege, Gurigura. After a series of confrontations, the White Knight exasperated the scenario by using the newer Adan's Blood on Ophelia's body. This drug caused her to become a living embodiment of lust, and she raped and killed her father. While dead, Bolonius got a partial revenge on his Snake Crest handlers by making sure that the government of Hamlet got their hands on his newly-developed cure for the zombie virus, which proved instrumental in stopping his daughter.
