Greg Land

简介

Brian Cronin of Comic Book Resources remarked that Land's art in Uncanny X-Men #510 is "possibly has the most harmful art to a story that I've seen in a comic," saying that Land's limited supply of poses and use of the same models for multiple characters "results in terrible art and particularly terrible storytelling." Although the use of photographs as models is long established in comic book art, Land has been accused of going beyond the accepted bounds of photo use. His layouts and poses were so distinctive, detailed and repetitive that critics suspected he was lifting photos directly into his pages, using minimal Photoshop alterations to make the work appear original. Land claims he conducts Google searches for references but denies digital manipulations—a claim contradicted by evidence online. Internet users have repeatedly demonstrated his alleged tracing by overlaying his artwork onto posters, movie stills, pornography, and other comic art. There are currently numerous petitions and online groups demanding Land be fired by Marvel. However, Joe Quesada, Marvel's editor-in-chief, has stated he would not fire Land, calling it unfair to the artist.
